Wix builds websites; Typoza publishes posts
For bloggers on Wix: how the editors differ, how each one lets you leave, and what stays on Wix if you move.
Free to start, no card. You can export your posts at any time, on every plan.
Moving a Wix blog somewhere else
- Each post copied out by hand
- Each image uploaded again
- The design and the apps left on Wix
- A redirect to write for every old link
Moving a Typoza blog somewhere else
- Posts and pages in one archive, as Markdown and JSON
- Every image listed with its address
- Theme settings and redirects, saved as JSON
- Your domain, pointed at the next host
Wix builds a website from blocks you place on a canvas, with apps for a shop, bookings or events. For a business that needs all of that without code, it is a strong choice.
The blog is one of those apps. You write in its editor, and posts appear inside the site you designed. Typoza has no canvas and no apps: you write, and one theme lays out every post.
Check the way out before you start. Wix's help centre says blog posts cannot be exported to another platform. On Typoza, every plan includes the export, the free one too.
Point by point
| What we compare | Typoza | Wix |
|---|---|---|
| What you get | An editor, and a site laid out by one theme. | A drag-and-drop canvas and an app market. |
| Writing a post | Write and publish. The theme handles the layout. | Write in the blog editor, inside a site you designed. |
| Beyond posts | Standalone pages and a newsletter. No shop, bookings or forms. | Shop, bookings, events and many more apps. |
| Design | One theme: colours, fonts, text width. Elements stay where the theme puts them. | Free placement of every element, and a large choice of templates. |
| SEO | Generated for every post: structured data, sitemap, feeds, share images. | SEO settings for each page, with guidance. |
| Export | One archive on every plan: Markdown, JSON, and the address of each image. | No export of blog posts to another platform, says Wix's help centre. |
| Team | Six roles, review before publishing, and one seat on the free plan. | Collaborators, with roles and permissions. |
| Support | Email, read by a person. A reply can take a few days. | A large help centre and a support team. |
What Wix does better
Every comparison has this section, and it is never empty. We lose on these points:
- A whole site without code. Pages, a shop, bookings: Wix covers what a small business needs, where Typoza covers the blog.
- The app market. Events, stores, forms, memberships and more, none of which Typoza offers.
- Layout freedom. You place each element where you want it; on Typoza, the theme decides.
- Templates. A large choice of ready-made designs, so the site can look finished on day one.
- Support at scale: a detailed help centre and a support team. Typoza answers by email.
Moving from Wix
No importer reads a Wix blog. Moving to Typoza means copying each post across by hand, then pointing your domain at the new site.
What comes across
- The text of each post, pasted into the editor, formatting included.
- Your domain. Point it at Typoza (Collective plan and up) and the certificate follows. If you bought it through Wix, transfer it out first; Wix's help centre explains how.
- Your old links, with one redirect each: Wix serves posts under a path of its own, Typoza at the root of the site.
- Your mailing list, if you export it from Wix as a CSV. The email addresses come across once you confirm consent.
What does not
- An automatic import. There is none for Wix.
- The design and the apps: shop, bookings, forms, members. Typoza has none of them.
- Images: each one goes back in by hand.
- Comments on your Wix posts. On Typoza, comments begin with your first post there.
- Time. You copy every post by hand, so count them before you set a date.
So, which one?
Pick Wix if…
A shop, bookings or other apps are part of the plan, you want to design each page yourself, or going live this week matters more than how you would leave later.
Pick Typoza if…
The site is a blog, you would rather write than arrange blocks, and you want an export you can use on the day you leave.
Questions people ask next
Can I export my Wix blog?
Wix's help centre says blog posts cannot be exported to another platform. Read the current version of that page before you plan anything: if it has changed, your move gets easier.
Can Typoza replace the rest of my Wix site?
Not the shop, the bookings or the forms: Typoza has none of them. It has standalone pages, for an about or a contact page, and a newsletter.
Is Typoza simpler than Wix?
For writing, yes: no canvas, and no layout to adjust post by post. For building a business site, it is the wrong tool.
What happens to my Wix design?
It stays on Wix. On Typoza you set colours, fonts and text width in one theme, and you cannot move elements around. If the look of your site matters most, weigh that before anything else.
Can I keep the domain I bought through Wix?
Yes. Move it from Wix to a registrar of your choice by following Wix's transfer instructions, then point it at Typoza, from the Collective plan. A transfer can take several days, so start it before you set a date.
The post you keep putting off
Write its first paragraph today. The post stays a draft until you publish it, and no reader sees it before then.
